Wimbledon Academy Scholarship

What is it?

The BMAKA Wimbledon Academy Scholarship is awarded to a child who we feel deserves a chance to participate in martial arts and without this scholarship may not receive the opportunity. The scholarship includes;

Full membership and martial arts uniform.

Access to weekly classes

Access to our martial arts camps

Why do we have a scholarship?

The Wimbledon Academy is a community martial arts facility. From working with local businesses and schools to fundraising for appeals such as Haiti and Japanese Earthquake. The instructors love their jobs and seeing students progress and develop is very rewarding. Our classes for children are always fully booked with parents wanting to give their children the best start in life. We see children blossom from shy and nervous to confident and outgoing. We watch children who are classed as boisterous and naughty channel their energies and learn discipline and how to lead and help others in a positive way.

In short, we want to give something back to the community... no strings attached.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is aimed at a child who would be unable to take part in martial arts without financial assistance. The age upon application must be between 7 and 14 yrs old. The applicant must live or go to school in the Merton area. This scholarship is not applicable to current members.

How do I apply?

Please fill in an application form which is available from Wimbledon Academy by post, email or collection. Fill in the form and submit any supporting letters (e.g from teachers, social worker etc.)

What happens then?

The Wimbledon Academy team will choose eight children from the applications and invite them to the academy for a free fun martial arts session. The scholarship winner wil be notified within three days after the session. Two runners up will be given a free pass to our summer camp.

When is the deadline?

Schloarships applications are closed for 2011. The next entry will be 2012.
