Specialist areas - Inspiration for 'having a go' and determination

Profile - Maria has been training with BMAKA for one year. Inspired to start martial arts after watching her brother train when she was younger at 17yrs old she decided to give it a go.

Maria is completing her 2nd year studying for a BTEC in Public Services. She will then be starting a foundation degree in Youth Justice through the Open University bringing her closer to her dream of becoming a police officer.

Whilst not studying and training Maria works part time as a child minder to help fund her study and training.

During her short time at the club Maria has rose to every challenge and opportunity. After only 8 weeks of training she put herself forward for a 25 round charity sparathon. She regularly trains at various classes and attends the Wednesday sparring and Sunday ring training sessions. She competed in her first competition at the beginning of the year against some much more experienced opponents. Her grit and determination were highly commented on during her fights. Despite not getting the decisions she is back hard at work to improve herself.
